Does anyone know if swimming is contradicted in cases of lumbar spinal stenosis? I've read contradictory reports, and my own limited experience is a bit conflicting. I know proper form is important to prevent any hyper-extension, but I'm just curious whether I'm barking up the wrong tree. I'm coming off 6-7 years of inactivity following the advent of this problem, which is basically activity induced sciatica type of pain, but come from a background of swimming and running and cycling, and since I'm only continuing to deteriorate I thought I would give exercise one last try before I consider the knife. Surgery does not appear to be a good option for me, but I just can't stand this inactivity anymore.
Any lumbar stenosis swimmers out there?
By the way, thanks in advance.
