Some pretty interesting discussions going on at www.collegeswimming.com, since I'm on the kick only routine after shoulder surgery thought these we're pretty interesting!
Obscure records.
As usual, I am having another heated discussion with another former swimmer. He said that he knew a swimmer that could kick 200 yards flutter kick in 1 minute 55 seconds. I could barely swim that fast, but I swam 400 years ago.
I told him he was full of "hot air", but then again, I could be wrong. So, here we go again.
Are there any unofficial records for kicking? For conversation sake, let's divide it up into men and women, long course or short course, all four "strokes" and 100 yards or 100 meters.
Don't "BS", I'm curious how fast the super swimmers can actually kick.
I'll anxiously await the results.
Thanks,
Your pal in aquatics, SB

fastest times i remember hearing of or seeing with my own eyes.....
(all guys)
SCY
100 *** kick in 1:08.1
200 *** in 2:20
avg. 1:16.1 for 2000 straight ***
kick 100 back in 51.4 SCY
19.9 for a 50 kick with fins on (no board)
55.5 for 100 free kick SCY
I heard Peter Marshall did a 2000 Back kick in something crazy like 22 minutes
LCM
100 *** 1:20.8
I read somewhere that thorpe can go 2:15 for 200 LCM free kick
I'm not sure what the fastest 200 free kick i've seen is, but 1:55 sounds pretty insane. I might call BS on that one.....

I saw Peter Marshall kick 8x100 on 1:30 going between 51.6-56.4. I do remmeber hearing about some national swimmers being able to go sub 2:00 200 kicks with and with out kick boards.

I saw Gary Hall kick 100 meter long course (on a kickboard) Butterfly in 1:03 or maybe 1:05.
That was 1975 - So it was the man now known as Gary Hall, SR.
Somebody who knows Eddie Reese should ask him about fast kicking, rumor is Neil Walker was amazing.
