open water triathalon swim

Hi--I am doing the swim leg of an olympic distance triathalon on July 10. (1.5km) It is an open water swim. I was a distance swimmer through college. (1500, 1650 etc. . . ) I'm in shape now. I run, bike lift etc. .. however I have not swam regularly in a number of years. Any workout ideas? I have pool access. I was thinking of just hitting the pool and swimming 1500m and seeing how it feels and going from there but I'm not sure what is the best way to get as tuned up as possible in 6 weeks. Thanks!!
