500 Yard Breaststroke

I need some advice on training for a swim test. The swim is a 500 yard breaststroke and the time I am shooting for is around a 7:00 - 7:30. That means I have to be doing 1:24-1:30 100 repeats. The test can also been done with sidestroke or any combination of the two strokes, but I feel as though breaststroke is going to be faster than sidestroke could ever be. I swim about 2 hours a day, 6 days a week and am looking for help on workouts. Right now I average between 2500-4500 yards per day depending on the workout I do. My warm-ups and some conditioning work is done in freestyle and the rest is done in breaststroke. I don't use any fly or back due to my horrible form in those strokes. If anyone has any idea of what direction to go in or has any questions, I am all ears. . . or rather eyes. . . cause it is the internet. Thanks in advance.

Not spending a lot of time on the turns, and long underwater push offs the walls will make it a lot easier. I may have some ideas you can use at Breaststrokers Web Page www.breaststroke.info

A fast sidestroke 1:02. That's faster than I did freestyle as a kid. I agree staying underwater less for a 500 yard *** when you want to put more speed is easier.
