Age Groups:
19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, increments of 5 years.
Competition age groups are different for Yards and Meters:
Yards: you swim in your actual age category. You swim in the age category based on your age that day of the competition.
Maters (Short Course and Long Course): It's based on your age on December 31st of that year.
So if your birthday is Jan 1. you swim in your age category the entire year.
If your birthday is Dec 31st, and you will be turning 25, even though you are 24 most of the year, you swim in te 25-29 age-group for any meters meet.
