So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week. Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:

I followed your advice to hang with y'all and have fun. :) After my 33 years off and only five months of practice I swam in our South Carolina SCY state championships a couple of weeks ago. A meet! I'd forgotten how much I loved them. Touchpads! They still say Colorado Timing on them. The excitement of it all! I had so much fun I've got a reserve of it that ought to last through Christmas. :) Our team, Palmetto Masters, won in a landslide of points and there were many records set, lifetime best swims, first-time swims, and all kinds of amazing achievements in all age groups. I am so proud of our team. I surprised the heck out of myself by setting a state record in the 50-54 age group 100 *** going 1:04.10. And then did a :25.27 in the 50 Fly which I understand is a Top-10 time in the U.S. so far this year. Also a :23.95 50 Free. First race was the 100IM. First race back after all this decades. I managed to front-load it with all those years of anxiety, "can I still do this?" thoughts, and whatever else was roaring around in my head. My goal was to break a minute and I did going :59.10 but I know I can go faster. Had to get that first one out of the way so the fun could really begin and it did since the next event was the 100 ***. :) So thanks ElaineK and all of you for being here and reminding me to HAVE FUN! YIKES!!! I bow to your greatness. Well done!!!
