So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week.
Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:
I don't have the background as a competitive school swimmer. My high school didn't even have a pool. I just swam for cross training on and off since my mid 30s (70 now). Laps at a town park in summer, laps at my former college pool in winter. Sometimes only 400-500 yds, sometimes up to a mile. I was more into track & field or road running for 40-some years.
Then 3 years ago I was told advancing arthritis would put a stop to any impact sports, so swimming it had to be. Last year I found a masters team practice two days a week at a local YMCA, and this summer I joined the local triathlon club so I could swim with them at a lake once a week. I have made it every week but one since June 5th, doing about 2K each time. Two loops of approximately 1000 yd.
My time has improved from 59 to 54 mins for the 2k OWS. I don't know about pool times yet, but the masters team restarts Sep 11 and I very much look forward to it.
