So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week.
Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:
Elaine K., so glad you're back after your hip surgery! Congrats!
My "swim happy" post for now--not impressive distance-wise, just a happy 1200 yards when, at first, having just returned from Sat. evening mass last night, I was ready to hole up, fix dinner, have some wine--and the cold, rainy day didn't make me want to run off to swim. But I knew that if I didn't get the pool time, I might miss out for the weekend, since today I wanted to focus on a run and some work stuff. There wasn't a lot of time left for a swim, but enough to get something accomplished, however small, and better small than wishing I'd done it. So off to the pool--and happily discovered that I had it ALL TO MYSELF!!!!
So after 200 each of swim, kick, and pull (did I mention that I hate kick sets? ;) -- so I give myself props for doing 200 w/out any coach there to tell me to do so), I did 4x100, each one faster than the one before--that definitely surprised me b/c I was feeling sluggish when I got there, then 6x25, with the last one being the fastest (wasn't really noticing the times of the others, just trying to remember to give myself 8-10 seconds between), then easy 50--and then the pool was about to close. So not a lot of time, but I was feeling 100 percent better leaving than when I arrived, and so glad I didn't succumb to the temptation to bag it.
