So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week.
Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:
My final "Swim Happy" before I undergo hip surgery this Wednesday was that I successfully "raced" 10 events at the Dixie Zone Championships and won the Georgia Championship Series (4 meets: SCY, LC, Open Water, SCM) for my age group. I also placed 4th of 9 in my age group for points at this meet, even though my times were rotten, I couldn't dive off the blocks, and I was unable to kick any stroke with my right leg. In the 400 IM and 100 IM, I couldn't kick breaststroke. I also swam some of the longest and/or toughest events. Besides 400 IM, I swam the 400 free, 1500, and 200 fly. (The last two were today with the 100 IM in between.) It was FUN!
I had a blast in the water and on deck this weekend. "Walking" on deck (more like :cane: ) was another story. :censor: In all, I went out in a blaze of glory!
On Wednesday, I have my surgery, and then I'll be looking like this for the next two weeks: :toohurt:Doc won't allow me to kick for 3-4 months, and I can't compete for 5 months post-op.
Forumites, enjoy your time in the pool now while you can, because you never know what's around the corner. ;)
