So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week.
Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:
This has been on my radar screen for a couple of years: The annual February SCY meet at Auburn offers the 1650 free, 200 fly, and 400 IM on the same day. Since this is my last year in this age group, I figure why not? All the brute squad events on the same day, why not? It's a good excuse to do lots of fun aerobic sets :)
This isn't exactly "Swim Happy" but it is on topic. We have an annual Animal Meet with the 400 IM ,200 Fly,and 1000 free as one combination and a few years ago I thought "what the heck" and entered. The 400 IM was a typical 400 IM for me,except a little slower as I knew I had the other 2 events.I swam the 200 fly about 15 min later.I went out slow and surprised myself at how easy it felt. The time wasn't fast, but I was swimming to finish and felt stronger as I went on.I figured the 1000 would be a piece of cake after the 200 fly as I figured I'd just swim it like a warm up but push the at the end.Imagine my surprise at 100 yards when I found it difficult to lift my arms out of the water, longest 1000 I've ever swum :cane:.
