The Butterfly Lane

Butterfly, beautiful to watch, difficult to train. We SDK off every wall. We're most likely to smack hands with each other and those beside us. Fly's fun to sprint but no fun when the piano comes down What did you do in practice today? the breastroke lane The Middle Distance Lane The Backstroke Lane The Butterfly Lane The SDK Lane The Taper Lane The Distance Lane The IM Lane The Sprint Free Lane The Pool Deck

  • I'm working on improving my very pokey 200 fly speed. My best short course yards time is 3:50, and my recent long course time was 4:37; however, I "raced" it immediately following my 400 free race. Today, in a 25 yard pool following a practice 200 breaststroke race, I swam the following set: 4x50 fly @ 1:30, 1:15, 1:00 . My times were :53, :53, :55, :54 . Based on all of the above information, what do you think a reasonable goal should be for: 1. Practice 200 fly races? These would be from a push off, since the pool I train in doesn't have starting blocks. 2. My long course time for Worlds and Nationals? As a side note, I'm a breaststroker, and this is not a core race for me (as you can tell by my very pokey times!). I love racing this event, though, and my goal is to improve! Thanks!
