coachsci.sdsu.edu/.../ultra40a.pdf There is a method, which is referred to as the Rushall method which Michael Andrew uses. Was wondering if you had any critique about this. If this sort of training is a good idea and what are the problems. Would this also be good for longer events? Like the 400 IM? Thanks!

  • Yea Glenn that his is main training method. Really, where did you hear that pile of horse crap? Wait he did a couple of those sets with Salvo and now he uses it to train for the 1500? Yea all 10K gold medalists are now swimming 25s and 50s to train. Now that he swims for Bowman I am sure Bob has got him doing tons of USRPT. I mean that is what Phelps, Vendt, VanderKay, Schmidt and all the other Olympic medalists that Bob coaches use to be successful. The source of this information regarding Ous Mellouli is John Naber. You might remember John Naber, he won four gold and a silver in the 1976 Olympics. I swim with John at Rose Bowl in Pasadena. If you knew anything about USRPT you would know that to train for the 1500, you do repeat sets of 100's which is what Mellouli does according to John. John attended USC as did Mellouli. USRPT is not mainstream. USRPT has many detractors. USRPT is not easy. But USRPT works. What do you do? I'll be at the SCM meet in Carlsbad on June 29. I'm 65 years old and I would love to swim against you! Glenn Gruber
