Hi, I'll be visiting Fort Lauderdale soon and see that the water temps look great. Is swimming in the ocean pretty common there? Any recommendations on best places to do some open water swimming? Thanks!
decades of swimming @ laud-by-the-sea. start 250 to 300m north of the pier @commercial blvd. swimming parallel and 20 - 30m inside the boat exclusion zone line of buoys, head north. on a clear relatively calm day you will be able to see what remains of a beautiful reef, still supporting sealife. turtles, rays, various fish. make sure to stay inside the buoy line and even at that, be aware of approaching motors. we prefer early am for the absence of motors. also, this is an unguarded beach, swim with a friend.
