Criteria: warm, clear water, no snakes or sharks flexible swim times. No coaching needed. Reasonable housing and access to good food. .

I strongly second St. Croix as a swim destination and their economy can really use a boost after the hurricane.
Bermuda is another option. Grotto Bay is the home of the Round the Sound swim and it's a great place to stay.
