Ice miles, very cold water swimming

Starting this thread as more general than Lesotho Ice Mile. A recent NYT article on it: www.nytimes.com/.../for-swimmers-with-ice-water-in-their-veins-an-event-to-match.html Loneswimmer's blog on cold water swimming: loneswimmer.com/.../ Northwest Kingdom's Kingdom Games, Memphremagog Winter Swimming Festival, March 3-5, 2017: kingdomgames.co/.../ The last two have embedded video links that should be useful.

  • Did my longest ice swim, sort of. I wore a wetsuit and swam about 80 yards. This was part of an aquathlon, so immediately following the swim was a 5k run. The run pretty much warmed me up. I overdressed for the run, and next time I do something like this, I may pass on the wetsuit, since it took so long to get it off. But definitely an interesting experience! Fun in its own weird way! :)
