Doing the NJ olympic tri next weekend and wanted to see if anyone knows about swimming conditions (is there any current) in the Hudson River? The NYC oly tri is infamous for their current (also Hudson River, but all the way north of Manhattan, where as this is entirely in the South).
Check the tide tables. If it is incoming, there will be a fairly weak current. Outgoing, fairly strong. The tides in the Hudson go all the way up to Troy, NY, more than 150 miles north. The original Algonquin name for it was "the river that flows backwards".
