Had a cardiac event (n-stemi=silent M.I.) in January, got three stents in circumplex artery. Love Open Water; live next to Lake Michigan. Can't participate in National OW, unless water is warm enough for cardiac patients/no wetsuit...is it time to reconsider a wetsuit division for OW CHAMPIONSHIPS, as baby boomers age up, and have cardiac events that require wetsuits up to a certain temperature?

Hi Jen, Long time no see. Your rationale is reasonable and appropriate for consideration. Discussion on this forum might give you insight into whether or not there may be sufficient support to make this politically feasible.
If you want to make this happen, you--a former member of the USMS Legislation Committee--know the drill. Draw up a rules change (the appropriate rule to be amended is 307.7.6); get support from your LMSC, a standing committee of the House of Delegates, the Board of Directors, or the Executive Committee (see 601.2.1 for authorization); and submit to the USMS Long Distance Committee by the deadline (see 601.2.3). Next 'Rules Year" is 2016. It's not an easy process but it has to start somewhere. Cheers, your old pal Bob
