I have considered solo-swimming from the north end of the strip to the south point of the island for some time, so it was very coincidental when I discovered that the PLL Cancun-Isla Mujeres is actually being run today, June 22. My current plan is to try to communicate with the event organizers and hire one of their water-support persons or, failing that, to hire a local fishing guide (probably $$$) or boat captain (marginal english) to support/mark me during the swim.
Has anyone actually swum this route? Does anyone have any first-hand experience or pertinent advice in setting up the logistics for this or other similar solo-swims?
Thanks, in advance!
Hey Mike- ... I am only in the planning stage right now, trying to see if it's feasible for a trip I have planned there, in the fall. But, I am very interested in any feedback I get on solo adventure swims.
