Struggling dolphin dies in polluted New York City canal Just wonder, does it mean open-water swimmers should be concerned about the water quality in NYC?

  • Well that's just plain sad. It's possible the Dolphin was sick to begin with, but I'm sure swimming up a Super-fund site didn't help. I don't know how they do things on the East Coast, but when I participate in an OW swim in a local inner-city lake here in Arizona, a water test is always performed prior to the race to ensure the water is safe to swim in.
