Does anyone know when when the names, locations and distances of the various 2013 USMS Open Water National Championships will be posted on the USMS open water calendar? I just checked and see nothing yet for 2013. It's never too early to start planning. I'm aware through other sources that the 10K is in Lake Mead in May and there is a 2.4 in southern California later in the summer but see nothing of the rest.
July 6th, 2013: Kingdom Swim
Kingdom Swim has been selected to host the national 9+mile USMS Open Water Championship in 2013. There will be two 10 mile waves this year. The Championship Wave and the non championship wave (youth, wetsuits, and those not competing for the championship.)
Come on out to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont (town of Newport) for an exceptional swim! Other distances are also offered - great for the whole family!

You are right, it is in the far reaches of the state, and drive time from Boston is around 4 hours and Albany, NY, is closer to 4.5 hours. There is an airport in Burlington, VT, that is about 2 hours away. I know that knicholas flew in last year from out west and enjoyed some extra time before and after the swim. I live in the southwest corner of the state, and it takes about 3.5 hours.
Maybe some of our frequent fliers can add some advice? I would highly recommend extra time to explore that part of our state, often compared to Ireland with the green rolling hills. There are a bunch of great lakes to explore while you are here!

Yes, the USMS 10 Mile National Championship wave of Kingdom Swim just opened a couple of days ago. We already have 24 signed up with a cap of 100.
You can register for any of the waves without specifying your yacker. Just enter "tbd" and let us know later, when you have successfully blackmailed one of your friends or family members to support you.

I fly on Southwest to Manchester and then drive from there.
4 hours seems longer than it takes me to drive from Manchester, it is on the northern end of Boston suburbs.
