I was waiting for someone to post about the Minnetonka 5 Mile and USMS 10 Mile hosted in Excelsior, MN. It didn't happen so I 'm going to mention it. My compliments to the director, the chair person and the volunteers. I haven't done a lot of open water events, but I thought it was well organized and the community of Excelsior made a good venue. #PayItForward

Did you write a race report? I'd love to read it. I'm going to write a story. I've got a few ideas. When I get it written I'll get you a copy of it.

I swam the 10 mile. Only my 2nd ever pure open water race. 2nd complaint - did they have a shuttle to return swimmers to the start? I had to bum a ride to my rental car. It took a handful of solicitations. They were encouraging people who had rides to carpool with other swimmers. It would have been nice to be able to walk up on the Wayzata Beach and see how it was setup, but the turnaround buoy was a few 100 meters from shore.

it is an excellent destination swim. I did the race about 5 years ago, and the host made arrangement for my canoe support. I traveled alone from Houston, TX. I do have two complaints. Information regarding the 5-mile swim is difficult to come by... every time I seem to google the race minnesota masters comes up AND entry forms have seemed hard work to locate. of course, this wouldn't be true for a USMS 10K. 2nd complaint - did they have a shuttle to return swimmers to the start? I had to bum a ride to my rental car. It took a handful of solicitations.
