Have been a competitive swimmer for 30+ years. This year I'm branching out and getting into open water swimming. I'm signed up for a 5k in Aug. and Slam the Dam in Oct. Has anyone done the Great Salt Lake Open Water Swim? The salinity of the GSL is around 12%. Water temp is in the 60's. Don't want to wear a wet suit since I don't want to be any more buoyant than I need to be. The race is only a mile, so I'm thinking just suck it up and go for it. Anyone that has swum this race in the past, I'd appreciate some feedback on your experience.
Thanks Matthew. I'm looking forward to it. And yes, everyone I've talked to say no to a wetsuit. I'm sure it won't take me long to get the breathing down. I swam a little bit last summer in the lake and really enjoyed the feel. Are your swimming Sat?
