Those who have done it in the past, what did your training schedule look like?
Right now I'm at 4000 yard 3x a week and then a 5-6000 yards 1 day....
I know there's blogs, etc online but I wondered how the masters trained for this.thx
I get up to about 15k per week for 6 weeks and then closer to 20k for the three weeks leading into it with a taper in the last week.
Get your quality sets to be 20 minutes or longer and on the other hand consider carefully how many long easy sets you will need - my view is that it is not many. I stay away from the this and that approach of doing 200 of this 400 of that and another 350 of something else.
As far as key swims, an easy 8,000 a few weeks out, and a 3 x 1,000 set two weeks prior. I can see how well prepared I am year to year with the 3 x 1,000 times.
