I am starting to build my long swims from about two miles today, targeting a 10K swim in October. At about what rate would you all suggest I increase the distance of my long swims? Thanks.
the 10% rule is golden.
I agree. 10 years ago I trained for a marathon and used the same idea with the 10% increase on the "long" day each week. I also think that if you add too much your risk for injury really jumps - the body needs to gradually get used to churning out longer distances or a small setback will just snowball into something more serious.
(On a side note, I wish we had more snow in VT this year)
