Oh I just saw this. Thanks everyone. Despite glorious conditions and the best crew in the world, I really managed to **** this one up. I just couldn't get myself warm even though the water wasn't too cold. I called it off a shivering mess. Maybe I was just having a bad day. I don't know.

Btw I did NOT write the word above that everyone is going to think! Apparently I've committed yet another cultural faux pas

I'll amend my statement to say it was a "son of a ***". This is apparently ok, as this expression has been sitting on the "Maui Swim Tragedy" thread for quite some time, uncensored.

Yep! I try something different in 2012 so I can have a bit of success before trying Catalina again . Maybe Ederle or the Boston Light swim. Maybe the Anacapa Channel. I'm not good at leaving something unfinished :)
