Yay! As I recall, this was a popular swim last year. Congratulations to organizers for committing themselves to a second year of a midstate swim.
This swim is also Illinois' 2011 contribution to GLOWS - Great Lakes Open Water Swim series. Win points and fame by participating in GLOWS.
I would like to , but I will be coming out of hip surgery!

The OW season is upon us with alarming speed. Lake Michigan is already 53 degrees, and it's definitely not too soon to start planning for the Central Illinois Open Water Swim on August 6!

It took me a full 1.5 days to realize that some people don't actually swim until water warms up to, oh, 60 degrees!
CIOWS 2011 Evergreen Lake water temperature is recorded as 72.2F on Saturday morning, June 4, 2011.
Thanks, John! Parboiled humans... Lake Michigan is about 55-56 today.

The CIOWS 2011 Evergreen Lake surface water temperature range is 76.5F to 76.2F, as of Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 8:10 AM CT. Digital measurements were taken at 18" and 6" water depths. The lake water is gradually warming.

Evergreen Lake water surface temperature is 83.1F at 18" water depth and 82.8F at 6" water depth. Digital measurements were collected as of Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 7:40 A.M. CT.
