any posters swam this event? I am thinking of multi-tasking a tourist trip to dover in late august and traveling to windermere for the mile swim and extra mile in early september.

Well I heard it was cancelled this year due to algae - a friend of mine was going to swim.
But the Lake District is a beautiful area of the UK. I have only been on day-trips so no advice on hotels etc although Sharrow Bay does a fancy (pricey) cream tea. There's lots of scenery to take in and plenty of walking to do. Its a bit cooler than Texas though:D:D
