who would have thunk that October 16 would be the day of not 1; not 2; BUT 3 open water events.... the shortest being 10 MILES!
that right:
Swim The Suck 10 miles

starring forumites evmo and chicken of the sea
The Distance Swim Challenge 12.5 miles

starring forumite and the guy in the white tiger suit RobbieD
Ederle 17.5 miles

I will be joined by 9 heavy hitters for this 2010 NYCSWIM finale.
they are predicting a little weather for saturday in these parts so the course direction has been changed and the start time will now be 4:45 AM (thats right folks.... darkness, wind and waves! what could be a better way to wrap up the season)
Water is finally warming up!
Shhh -- don't tell anybody. I'm afraid you'll jinx it. (I'm signed up for the 12.6, and I'm very superstitious. Got in just south of the Santa Monica pier this morning. Let's just say that both the water temp and the current put a smile on my face.)

Hey Chaos,
I know you only do the long open water's but there is a shorter OW on 10/16 a Golden Gate crossing in San Francisco bay. www.waterworldswim.com/.../index.html
Then the next day you can do the Tiburon Mile http://www.rcptiburonmile.com/
You Da Man, Dave! I don't think anyone hase EVER had a season like you in 2010. Next, move to Florida so you don't have to cram all these events into 6 months.
ken,
i did the bob roper bridge swim last year... love swimming in the bay!
amanda,
totally forgot about round the sound..... my bad.
ron,
fla is a nice place to visit, but...........

thanks for the shout out dude... hopefully I can live up to this hype! I figure between the white tiger suit and my DB approved kayaker I should do ok with it!
I wasn't even going to mention the Round The Sound 10k swim is on in Bermuda the same day...I hope it's rough!
4 inch waves! 80 degree water!
Only the strong survive!
I believe it's on the 17th, so one could take part in one of these other events then take a flight to the tropics.

Just more reasons why I stick to pool swimming. Good luck to everyone swimming these events. Have fun!
