5 weeks to go to the 20th Annual Chicago Masters' Big Shoulders Open Water 2.5k and 5k swim.

This swim is also part of the USMS H2Open Series and the Great Lakes GLOWS series, all compelling reasons to attend the church of the 5k butterfly.
For those unfamiliar with the venue, swimming can be done at Ohio Street Beach any day (short of bacterial counts high enough to close the beach), so a trial swim along the seawall in the days preceding the meet is easily done.
Lake Michigan temp has been much warmer this summer. We don't need woollen leggings and ski caps after a 6 a.m. swim.

Are awards given if you wear a wet suit?
The following statement is from www.bigshoulders.org:
"AWARDS & RESULTS: Each finisher will receive a finisher’s medal. Results will be posted on the internet at www.bigshoulders.org. Wetsuit swimmers are scored for top three male and female overall."
Results still haven't been posted to the official site but they do exist! They sent me the results in email to post to my site late last night. The weather in Chi-town Saturday makes the little fog here in La Jolla on Sunday pre-Rough Water look like child’s play. Your race reporting last year and this year makes me more determined to get up to Big Shoulders some year. Who knows — maybe a weekend double: Big Shoulders 5K Saturday, Gatorman (~5K) Sunday?
