This swim is also part of the USMS H2Open Series and the Great Lakes GLOWS series, all compelling reasons to attend the church of the 5k butterfly.
For those unfamiliar with the venue, swimming can be done at Ohio Street Beach any day (short of bacterial counts high enough to close the beach), so a trial swim along the seawall in the days preceding the meet is easily done.
Lake Michigan temp has been much warmer this summer. We don't need woollen leggings and ski caps after a 6 a.m. swim.

The water temp can change suddenly, though. Two years ago, it was upper 70's during my practice swim (in really rough water) the afternoon before. The next morning it was calm and mid 60's.

The water temperature was 78 at Promontory Point (southside) last Thursday. I swam up in Winnetka the Sunday after and it was 60. Gotta love Lake Michigan!

Managed to get in just now...even though I don't know for sure if my boss will let me go...but didn't want to miss out, just in case.
Well, Murphy reared his ugly head. Boss told me my trip back to the states got canceled. No Big Shoulders for me this year!
Mike, sorry to hear you can't make it. You might consider letting the race director know. The race is sold out so maybe someone can swim who might otherwise have been shut out.

Is your age listed wrong or did I sort you into the wrong group? It was a lot of numbers to shuffle, entirely possible I made a couple of errors in the middle there!
