Will be visiting family next week and wondering if there are any groups/areas for OWS in/near Pgh. Will also take suggestions for Masters practices, but have 10k in a few weeks and need the open water time, if possible. Thanks!

Pittsburgh Triathlon forum has the information you need about several OWS. Friday in the Allegheny River, Saturday at Moraine State park, etc.

Also independently, you could go to Raccoon Park or Crooked Creek Lake to swim.
We swim on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the Allegheny. Mick's link has the info. Make sure you check the thread for the weekly OWS. No swim when the river isn't clean. Pgh has a combined sewer so after a rain the river is not fit for swimming. I post if the swim is on or not every Friday.
I swim with Team Pitt on Mon and Thur at 5:45 a.m. You can come on a one-day basis for $5. The coach is Jen and she is fantastic.
