Has anyone ever had gastrointestinal issues from swallowing too much salt water? After Saturday's extremely rough Nubble Light Swim, I was ill most of the day. I'm thinking it's because I swallowed a lot of salt water, although I've never had this problem before. Now I'm worried about my other ocean races this year.

Are you sure you actually swallowed so much water? For me it's not swallowing problem. This past weekend I swam for about an hour at Brighton Beach. The water was extremely salty. As soon as I got out, my eyes felt strange, had trouble opening eyes. When I got home I found my eyes had grown very puffy/swollen, and painful. Looked and felt horrible. Now it's a little better but still not gone. I'm not sure if it's infection or what.
To those who have swum at Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, NY, do you think the water there is more salty than elsewhere? What about the Hudson? Did anyone have similar experience? I never had problem at other beaches.
