I have seen pictures of floats that look like a balloon inside which one can put in his dry clothing, then tie the float to his body and swim across a river, never having to return to the starting place to change clothes. Has anyone used this kind of things?

i don't know if they work to keep things dry when totally submerged. they do work well in the cargo areas of my kayak when water gets in.
