I have managed a few doubles too, and actively look for them wherever possible...
my two most memorable weekends were - Donner Lake Swim at Truckee, CA followed by the Horsetooth 10K at Fort Collins, CO and Alcatraz Sharkfest at San Francisco, CA followed by the Pennock Island Challenge at Ketchikan, AK
quite a financial commitment to pull off these sorts of weekends - I have driven a fair distance to combine weekend doubles - staying at the Hotel Jetta, i.e. sleeping in my car.
