Swimming Open Water Race in Hot Water

Does anyone have any good tips for swimming an open water race in water that may be 87 or higher with air temps potentially in the 90's? I am wondering if it would be a good idea to take a course of antibiotics prior to the race or just after.. We have had record high average temperatures for May and June in VA making swimming pools and lakes like bathtubs, the later without chorine. tips please... Send rain... Send clouds.... Send ice....

  • Now I know what that scale was there for! I was puzzled to see it seemingly abandoned at the beach. I bet I lost a few lbs that day...I had an awful headache due to dehydration the rest of the day. My own fault, I definitely didn't drink enough beforehand. This is exactly why I am working on this. kidney stones from dehydration is not fun.... so don't make it a habit... drink water before and during workouts too!
