Jelly Fish

I am swimming the Cross Bay Swim (Long Island) in 6 weeks. On my practice swims I have been getting stung by jellyfish where ever my wetsuit is not. Any ideas on what helps to not get stung? I have heard mixed results on a lotion that is supposed to help (sea safe?). I have also heard about vasiline but that is bad for the wetsuit. Please help. Thanks, Bob
  • :chug:Good Question......I researched on the internet last year about this too and found "Safe Sea" sunscreen with jellyfish sting protective lotion. I tried it in one open water swim; mentally, I felt better with it. Luckily, I didn't meet up with any - so I can't give you a guarantee:confused: Good Luck:angel:
  • I have used Safe Sea for a few years now, and I find it to work. I am highly allergic to Sea Lice and it helps me with that. It's once it wears off--and that's fairly quickly--that the stinging begins. The one thing I would say is that you cannot combine it with other sun protection--a real drawback in my book. Otherwise, I use it whenever I am going to be in a jellyfish rich area.
