I just signed up for my first OW swim. (Jim McDonnell 1-mile.) I'll be driving there alone. I noticed that "picture ID" required for sign-in. Where does one put there stuff when they are out swimming? (I searched the forums but couldn't find this question brought up anywhere.) I'm prepared to tie the rental car's key to my suit, but what about sandals? What about sweat-shirt or t-shirts (if it's cool prior)? I'm not sure if I'm over-thinking it...unsure how far the parking will be from the lake, for instance.

You may want to inquire with the race director to see if they have a gear check-in. Many races have one using your race number to store your stuff while you swim, which is very convenient. Good luck!
