I'm doing the Kingdom swim again this year and hoping to find someplace to stay. I have not sense of what towns are within reasonable driving distance to Newport.
Last time we stayed at the hotel right in town and I had to get up in the middle of the night to yell at the women next door, in town for the softball tournament. I'd like to get more sleep before this year.
Any suggestions?
We're not much for B&Bs but the options seem pretty limited up there...
Thanks folks.
Anent Flipper Fill's recommendation of heading toward Jay for lodgings, this would put one close to the great peaks and trails of the northern terminus of the Long Trail (might want to take a passport in case you circle through Canada to get back to lodging). There are good day hikes in the area. Also, Long Trail maintainers lead guided hikes and may be able to assist with a car spot.
I'm going hiking!

We got another place in town with a pool, bringing the kids this year. Stayed in the Newport Inn last year and it was fine for me is all I can say. In fact at breakfast the wife of one of the guys from Connecticut (I think) suggested I go shave so i wouldn't tear up my shoulders. Very glad she mentioned it, I had rash there that would have been worse.
The electricity being out when I woke up did freak me out a bit though.
I just need to ask--what the heck is the Search for Monogamy swim?? I have tried google, to no avail.
I am seriously curious.
"Monogamy" is a play on "Monongy" (yet another sea monster):
