Kingdom Swim--places to stay?

I'm doing the Kingdom swim again this year and hoping to find someplace to stay. I have not sense of what towns are within reasonable driving distance to Newport. Last time we stayed at the hotel right in town and I had to get up in the middle of the night to yell at the women next door, in town for the softball tournament. I'd like to get more sleep before this year. Any suggestions? We're not much for B&Bs but the options seem pretty limited up there... Thanks folks.

  • My husband and I would pretty much do anything not to have to make idle conversation with strangers--especially before coffee. I get enough of that owning a store. I also like when the "host" feels like sitting and chatting, while smoking. No thank you. The only thing that's worse is when there are cats they have not told you about--climbing over the chairs in the dining area. Yup--happened to us Lenox, Mass. Another guest and I, both with serious cat allergies, had to explain to the owners why it really wasn't okay and we would be checking out, immediately. Nice.
