Boston Light Swim (8 miles)

Where: Boston Harbor, Boston, MA
Description: August 14, 2010 – Boston Light Swim – Boston Harbor – Boston, MA – 8 miles. The BLS is a USMS sanctioned event (041-009-SOWS). The “granddaddy of American open-water swims” was started back in 1907. The race starts in the cold waters next to Boston Light, 8 miles off shore. This challenging race should be on your list of “must do” swims.

thanks for the info.
now i have to seriously consider if i should enter!... i'll be heading to dover around august 20. boston light would be a great send off.
distance training is going well, though i'm anxious to start getting some cold water swimming in. looks like the end of march will be the soonest possible road trip.
If you decide to do Boston and need an escort boat, PM me. I have a "secret" source - the guy who did it for me in 2004. Did a great job and also gave my crew (wife & brother) a running history lesson about the areas we were going through.
