how do people generally go about securing escort craft for this swim. is there a sign up page?
David
I was looking at coming east to do this swim but decided to swim a 10 mile in Utah that weekend and go east for Little Red Lighthouse. I contacted Greg at BLS and this was his reply
"As for escorts, we recommend registering for the swim and then worrying about finding a boat later. It is the swimmer's responsibility to acquire an escort, but if they can't find one we do step in and help. The registration is in March, but it is difficult to find an escort boat until the season begins (May). Some swimmers don't get a boat until a few weeks before the event. We step in and help out about a month before. We give preference to swimmers from out of state because it is more difficult for them to find a boat. It is best if you get a boater who has their boat in the harbor area. It is difficult, but possible, to launch a boat into Boston harbor.
So sign up for the race in March and don't worry about the escort boat just yet.
Greg"
Just drop him an email. For me Boston Light will have to wait for next year.
How's channel training going?
