Feedings

I have recently registered for a 10 mile race this summer. This will be my first introduction to feedings. Based on my speed/ ability I am assuming the swim will take me about 4:45 -5 hours. Could some of you share with me your typical schedule for this length of swim and your typical food and beverage choices? I need to experiment and I am not sure where to begin. The race is in fresh water and the water temp will probably be around 70 so cold and salt water won't be an issue. Thanks!

  • I use Hammer Perpetuem as a drink fuel/food and Hammer Gel to mix things up some. I then just supplement that with straight water. I used this for the Swim Around Key West last year and it worked great. I fueld up every 20-30 minutes and never felt much in the change of energy output. The Perpetuem is great stuff in my opinion.
