I am planning and preparing for a 10 mile swim in Utah in August 2010 and the possibility of a Catalina/English channel swim in 2011 or 2012. I am looking for a coach that could help me in my training as well as coaching me during a channel swim if I feel I can go forward with one. I workout in Lake Oswego, Oregon. I am OK with online coaching for training purposes with some one on one time for stroke assistance. If I am successful with preparation for a channel swim it would include an all paid trip to the swim location. I need someone with experience coaching long distance swimmers.

You bet. I'm concentrating on Masters Nationals right now since its here in my hometown this Spring. Once that is over I'll probably concentrate more on OW swimming. I had wanted to have a goal of doing a EC attempt in summer 11' (just after I turn 40) but logistically and training wise I'd like one more year. I know I need some cold water training as I've never been in water below 75 probably! Physically, I think I could easily be ready, but its just that acclimation to cold I need, and that take time from everything I've read.
I hope to do the Key West Swim in June. If that doesn't workout logistically I have alot of local swims planned. Last summer I did some 5K's (and one 4.5 miler) so I'm looking to do 10K's this summer and keep building the distance from there.
