#9 I assume you mean across Buzzards Bay. I think a good one would be Chatham to Providencetown along the Cape Cod National Seashore. I wonder which way the current moves, it might be easier the other way. There were more than a few sharks spotted through there last summer. this is across cape cod bay not buzzards bay. plymouth sits just about due west of the "fist".....(p-town)

this is across cape cod bay not buzzards bay. plymouth sits just about due west of the "fist".....(p-town) Thank you, for all the time I have spent down there I can't believe I had that wrong, oops. I still think a swim along the National Seashore is a great idea. I have kicked around the idea of swimming from Coast Guard to Marconi beach next summer. I love it down there and look forward to going there like a kid does Christmas.
  • During the winter Olympics they did a story about a Dutch speed-skating race, held on frozen canals, called the Elfstedentocht (Eleven-City Tour). It's about 200k, and is a huge big deal in Holland. I have no idea if these canals are swimmable during the summer, but if they are, I imagine this would make for a scenic stage swimming race.

I was just watching a documentary on Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Lake is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 feet (2,133 m) in North America. I thought what beautiful place for a open water swim.

I'd love to do suggestion number six. 6. Because the pristine waters of Crater Lake in the state of Oregon is a special geological wonder of North America, swimming the 9.7K (6 mile) length of the lake will probably be done with a carbon-neutral manner, if at all due to federal restrictions. sh. . . . . It's suppose to be a secret
  • Yukon R. Northwest Passage (it'll be ice-free) I was just watching a documentary on Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Lake is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 feet (2,133 m) in North America. I thought what beautiful place for a open water swim. Do they not allow swimming in this lake? I inquired about swimming in Glacier's lakes and got some blank stares. Someone eventually said, "Sure, if you want to." So I did. :)

I've had my eye on Pemaquid Light (mainland) to Monhegan Island in Maine for quite some time. 10 miles, very cold. Content with sipping a beer from my new kegerator in front of the fireplace right now.
