I've seen talk in a thread from a couple of weeks ago about the advantage of wearing a wetsuit and how some people like to put people down because they wear one. It was mentioned that their can be a great advantage by someone that wears a wetsuit.
Given all factors kept equal, in OW, on something like a one mile course what could you expect to gain by wearing a wetsuit versus wearing something like cutoff jeans. Also, what could you expect to gain by wearing a swim cap versus not wearing a swim cap.
Inquiring minds want to know.

For anyone who sees a boater run over kayakers or swimmers, please take the time and effort to report the boater to the local authorities. There have been boater-swimmer incidents from Hawaii to Florida, but the victims often require a third-party to make up their claims of being run over. In an incident in Honolulu, a boater ran over a group of open water swimmers, very seriously injuring one of the swimmers. Fortunately, a tourist had unexpectedly captured the incident while standing on Waikiki Beach on his video camera and offered the tape to those who were involved.
