Hi everyone,
I know 1000 doesn't sound like a lot to most of you. I was just curious if anyone was ever been an open water lifeguard or heard about their standards?
My professional job is in healthcare and this is a great side thing especially with scheduled workouts and being able to swim. I've been swimming my whole life (open water just the past 2 years). Nothing too major my longest has been a 2 miler.
They have an open water swim test which is about 1000 yards and usually interview the first 100 back on the beach. Just wondering anyones thoughts as to how fast those first 100 swimmers might be?
all the best

Its a pretty tough race--its usually early in the year so the water is cold, and there a lot of pretty tough college swimmers who usually show up. 100 yards is mostly in and out, and keeping a solid pace in between.
