Is anybody here doing the Bud Beatty 2 mile swim in Baltimore on Aug 9? This is a benefit for pancreatic cancer research. I think this is only the second year, and they only had about 5 people the first year. It looks like a bunch more signed up this year.
Considering that I have been in the pool exactly three times (and had LASIK) since the bay swim, I'm just going out there to have fun! Hope to see some of you there!
I'll be there and at least a couple of the folks from my workout group will be there as well.
My last experience swimming in that area was at the Baltimore Aquathlon a few years back, that swim was across the river I think, at North Point State park. As I recall it was very shallow.
Being right in my backyard I can't pass it up.

I did the Baltimore Aquathlon a few years ago too! It was pretty funny - I'm a terrible runner.

BTW, Do you know of any good places to get crabcakes in the vicinity? (I have my priorities, you know. :D)
I'll be at this one as well. I am looking forward to it. It looks like it should be a fun event and it is pretty close to me. There were just over 70 signed up yesterday. A lot more than the 5 they had last year. I hope it goes smoothly. I'm bringing my family to volunteer.
There are plenty of good crabhouses in that area but not sure who has the best crab cakes. The Riverwatch Restaurant is decent and right on the water on your way out of the area.
This is the last OW swim in the area I could find for this summer. There is a Swimfest at the Chesapeakeman Ultra Triathlon where you can do just the 2.4 mile swim on 9/26 in Cambridge, MD. I may enter that one. Let me know if you are aware of any others.
