Great swim this year. Nice temperature too. Was it just me or were the waves much bigger than last year? They seemed huge to me out there in the middle.
I also ran into a large dead animal. My hand hit a furry hip bone and I didn;t know what it was until the smell hit me....there was a slick of rotting flesh around the thing. Nice. It's like the frickin Ganges River out there. Maybe it was person. Who knows.

I completed my first one and LOVED it. I agree the waves were bigger in the middle and I think the current was stronger than one knot. I think the middle was a much different swim than either end was but that's what makes it fun.
I saw one poor swimmer swim right into a pillar. A kayak was right there so i didn't stay around but i'm sure that person's swim was over.
I didn't swim into any dead animals but i did swim into a rock or cinderblock or something near the end. I scraped the heck out of my underarm and chest pretty bad.
