  • hello forumites, a good friend is going to grad school in michigan, and i am looking for some open water spots to train in when i go visit. thanks Hi Dave: There is great Open Water spot north of Ann Arbor that a lot of masters swimmers and triathletes swim at on weekends and on weekdays. Its called Trout Lake and its in Kensington Metro Park. You walk about 1/2 into the woods and you come to calm lake that is about 800 meters long. The water is very calm and not being a big lake, the water temperature is never cold from June to the end of September. There are no motor boats allowed and its real safe to swim.
