Eligibility
The 2009 Open Water Challenge will be three separate meets. For USA-S registered Age Group swimmers 18 and under, this meet is the 2009 State of Wisconsin and State of Illinois Open Water Championship Meets. The event lineup and distances are the same as the Zone-C Open Water Meet. Non IL and WI USS registered swimmers may enter this meet, but will not be eligible for awards. Based on points earned IL and WI will battle for a State Open Water award. This year we will feature a registered USMS Masters only meet. Age Groups are scored in 5-year increments but swum as 35 and Under and 36 Over for 1, 2, and 3 mile distances. Masters swimmers must be registered with USMS. All other swimmers may enter our Open meet. The Open meet will have 1, 2, and 3 mile distances for age groups 35 and Under and 36 and Over. We also offer a ladies only 1/2 mile swim, and a 1 Mile, 5K Aquathlon M/F. Swimmers in the open events may wear wetsuits but will not qualify for awards. No wetsuits are permitted for Masters or age group events. Age of Saturday, June 27th, 2009 shall be used. Deadline for pre-registration, USA-S, and USMS swimmers is June 13th, 2009. Entries may be submitted through Active.com, on this form, or through HyTek.

Lake Andrea is a spring fed lake with depths from 0 to 30 feet. Starts and finish is land based with a sand bottom. A fully automated timing system with timing chips will be used. There is a $50 fine for lost timing chips. The meet will be computerized. All swimmers will be body marked.
Awards
Age Group awards (WI and IL USS Registered) are medals 1-8, and ribbons 9-16. Plaques will be awarded for the IL and WI top five teams (WI-single division). Non IL and WI USS registered swimmers are not eligible for Age Group awards. Masters events will be awarded first place medals by age group scored in 5-year increments 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, etc. Open events, non wetsuit will be awarded medals for places 1-3. All other Master and Open swimmers will be awarded finishers medals.
